Dare-to-Dream
Educational Farm Program, Inc.
an operating center for NARHA

We are delighted to introduce you to the Dare-to-Dream Educational Farm Program, Inc., a Massachusetts non-profit organization incorporated in 1996.
Our Mission Statement:

To foster personal and physical enrichment, growth and self-discovery in individuals regardless of age, physical or emotional limitations, or the ability to pay, through experiences with farm animals, especially horses.

The Dare-to-Dream program is committed to creating and maintaining an integrated environment where children and adults of all abilities may benefit from successful partnerships with animals.  It is our belief that due to the non-judgemental nature of animals, people are able to achieve a greater level of trust, and ultimately a greater sense of self-esteem and accomplishment.
The confidence gained from this type of experience then transfers to every aspect of that person's life.  A careful balance of individualized attention and group cooperation allows participants to learn from the animals and from each other.

We are all blessed with talents and challenged by limitations which define us as individuals while creating common bonds.

Dare-to-Dream Activities

Vaulting
Vaulting is an Olympic team sport in which the competitors engage in gymnastics on a moving horse. It is an incredible exercise in cooperation as each team member must assist the others in mounting, holding a position and dismounting.  Vaulting teams have been growing throughout the country as a means of teaching physical coordination, cooperation and self-esteem.

Home Schooling
Local children whose families have chosen to educate them at home participate in a program of learning about horses, horse care and barn management for educational credit.

Camperships
Dare-to-Dream has provided camperships for children to attend riding camp during the summer.
Farm Tours
Pre-schools, senior centers, scout troops and programs for the developmentally disabled have visited the farm at Crimson Acres to interact with the animals including horses, goats, baby animals, birds and Tyler the llama.

Riding for the Blind and Disabled
In a unique program, Dare-to-Dream has trained blind and disabled individuals to ride and compete in open, integrated equestrian competitions.  One rider in particular has received national recognition, and with Dare-to-Dream support is currently training her own young horse for this purpose.

The Future
In the years ahead Dare-to-Dream will continue to be affiliated with the North American Riding for the Handicapped Associations.  We hope to develop activities such as a school "lettered" riding curriculum, and an adult/child mentoring partnership based upon a common love of animals.
